In the weaving workshop, we make canvas for the sails of the Waterschip and fabrics for items sold in the shop. In the future, we’d also like to create reconstructions of the archaeological finds from the Batavialand Museum. This is a new initiative, and we’re setting it up together.
A volunteer shares: “We weave on old-fashioned looms. Visitors are also welcome to try weaving a small piece on one of these looms.”
Department and role
The weaving shop was recently established and has a location on the first floor. The inspired team invites you to learn the craft of weaving. Here you will learn warp making, threading and the weaving skill itself. You will introduce visitors to weaving on a loom and give demonstrations and workshops during vacation programs.
